Who ISN’T MISSING from Avatar Legends? Minor ATLA villains

In contrast to what I’ve been doing for the rest of this shorts-series, here I want to talk about three characters who I think either don’t deserve or just can’t really get a place in this game. Realistically, given the base roster of 12 fighters with at most 6 more on the way in the first year, most of the characters I’ve covered are not making it, but the following few would, in my opinion, either be a waste of a slot or just not really feasible.

Starting with the one I like the least, we have Admiral Zhao. As the main villain of the first season of Atla and one of the strongest firebenders in that show he would probably deserve a spot, were it not for the fact that virtually every other firebender in the show is either more important or more interesting than him. The entire royal family of the Fire Nation is comprised of stronger benders with more appealing villain-personalities or compelling redemption-arcs, and even his master Jeongjeong has more impressive firebending feats than him. I’ve previously stated that I’d take Combustion Man over him because his way of bending is more unique, and at that point we are already at 6 other firebenders, three of which are already confirmed. Those guys, plus the three avatars leave no room for the man; he should not get in.

Hama’s story and interactions with Katara are extremely compelling. She’s a tragic war-hardened soul, who turned to the most extreme methods possible to survive and attempts to corrupt people to her ways. As the inventor of blood-bending, the power she could potentially hold over this game is immense. Unfortunately for her, however, she is competing in that role with the person who took her vile art to the extreme, who’s also a corrupter and a more compelling villain with more screen time and a larger plot revolving around him. Of all the villain characters I’ve seen people request, Amon has been asked for the most and as blood bender, he took things a step further and would do so in gameplay as well. I will get into him another time, though.

Lastly, people remember June, right? She’s a bounty hunter Zuko and Iroh hire to track down the avatar and I have nothing against her inclusion. However, any moveset she might have would need to revolve around her mount and I just can not see that getting implemented in a healthy manner. The beast is fairly large, fast and possesses a ranged attack that can paralyze an opponent. That’s a lot. I’ve argued for chi-blocking and Amon-level blood bending being added to the game, but I think this is just a step too far. Either they put this giant combo feast-or-famine beast on the screen or they make it a support for a character without much of a moveset otherwise. I’d rather see the devs attempt something else.
