Who’s MISSING from Avatar Legends’ roster?

 Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, as a concept, may be the easiest slam dunk of all time. The bending forms are already martial arts-based; there’s a distinct fighting style to each one that can still be adapted and personalized. The shows and characters are beloved, there’s still new media for it 20 years later and who doesn’t love a good opportunity for promotion (use my link to buy the game on Instant Gaming^^)? Both the idea and the timing could not be better in my opinion and I have been looking forward to this game ever since it was announced, though I sadly did not manage to get into any beta tests.


Anyway, what makes or breaks this kind of game is the roster of playable characters, and in this case I am rather… whelmed with the choices on offer. 3 Avatars, the Gaang, the firebending royal family and Zaheer are all worthy additions and make sure there is at least one representative for each specific element and non-benders as well. It’s perfectly serviceable, if a bit safe. That being said, given the sheer amount of cult-classic, fan-favorite and generally goated characters the Avatar franchise has introduced to us over the years, I wonder if a universally satisfying cast for this game is even possible. Prompt me right now, and I can rattle off at least 20 more people, the addition of whom would go basically unquestioned as they are all iconic in their own right. But I won’t. Instead, I’ll make a list, divide it by element and other categories and release it one short at a time for free content, available in video form on both YouTube and TikTok with the scripts uploaded in advance on my blog.


In the meantime, and since apparently one DLC character is up to the community to decide, I am curious to hear about other people’s dream pick for the game. As for me, I’ll make y’all hear me out about Kai soon enough...

Street Fighter 6 sees Bison emerge with a severe case of amnesia, roaming the streets like a feral animal as he fights whoever he can find to quell his hunger for battle. The Black Flag Remake worries me.

It sure does feel weird to bear witness to a “Ubisoft W” after all this time. The new trailer for their upcoming remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag has been outright well-received, and I can definitely understand why. Within the franchise, Black Flag is in the unique position of being just old enough to justify updating in this way, while still being accessible enough on modern hardware at somewhat low prices to the point where most fans of the franchise have had a chance to play it. Most importantly, however, it is arguably the last universally beloved title in the series. Remember, Ubisoft tried to sell an entire game based on its naval combat and multiplayer. Keeping all that in mind, the decision to remake Black Flag specifically is nothing short of the safest possible choice they could have made.
