Who's MISSING from Avatar Legends? Waterbenders
I’m limiting myself to three additional characters per element. With the exception of fire, each element is only granted one exclusive bender in the game’s base roster. Of course, that position was always going to go to Katara. She’s THE waterbender of the entire franchise and especially ATLA, a title that seems to be hereditary given how her daughter Kya is arguably the waterbender of TloK, barring Korra herself. Beyond that, it would make for a cool contrast to have grown-up Kya and teenage Katara in the same game as a subversion of a mother-daughter dynamic and a showcase of how Kya’s bending style evolves from Katara’s. They’re masters of their element’s offensive and defensive capabilities, with Kya in particular being a healer and.. ok fine, I just want to see her break the game with that Elena-style, it would be funny.
I can’t decide if this is cheating or not, but there’s just too much potential for a great character design in the waterbending twins Desna and Eska. As one character, of course. Their way of waterbending is fairly unique and meant to work in tandem with the other twin, so I don’t think they could be separated on a character select-screen. Maybe they’d tag in and out in battle or stay connected like the Ice Climbers they are, maybe they perform attacks in sync or one twin handles offense and the other defense. There’s an interesting creative challenge here that I really want to see the devs attempt in the future.
The Legend of Korra is
somewhat underrepresented in the game as is, so I went for characters
from it specifically. Even then, I’m aware there’s one or two
waterbenders in that show that would make for even more interesting
additions, but I’ll get to those when covering potential villain
candidates...
